A New Chapter for Bistro 1878

To our valued locals and visitors,

We'd like to let you know about a small change happening at Bistro 1878.

From Thursday 6 August, the Bistro will continue operating under the same name you know and love, with catering now being managed by the experienced team at ChefHire.

While there'll be a new team behind the scenes, our commitment to providing great food, friendly service and a welcoming place for our community to come together remains exactly the same. You'll still find many of your favourite menu items, along with daily specials, and we'll continue to build on the menu over the coming weeks.

A Few Temporary Changes

To make the transition as smooth as possible, Bistro 1878 will be:

• Closed on Wednesday 5 August

• Closed for lunch on Thursday 6 August

• Reopening for dinner on Thursday 6 August with a limited menu.

We appreciate your patience during this short transition and look forward to welcoming you back that evening.

We're also pleased to share that our current Bistro team will be meeting with ChefHire regarding ongoing employment opportunities, helping to ensure familiar faces remain part of the Bistro experience.

We're excited to welcome Bradley Backhouse and the ChefHire team to the Top Pub family.

Brad has spent more than 30 years working in some of Australia's and Canada's leading kitchens, including award-winning restaurants and hotels. He brings a wealth of experience, a passion for quality food and a genuine commitment to supporting local hospitality venues.

Through ChefHire, Brad works closely with pubs, clubs and commercial kitchens to deliver great food, reliable service and strong kitchen teams—making him a fantastic fit for Bistro 1878.
